Exosome therapy is an IV of exosomes, tiny particles that cells release. At GIOSTAR, the exosomes come from mesenchymal stem cells from screened donors and carry no living cells. A nurse practitioner places the IV, and you sit in a recliner for 30 to 60 minutes at our Henderson wellness center, then go home the same day.
The people who ask about it tend to be adults who want to keep their tee times, their travel plans and their weekends with the grandkids. This article explains what exosomes are, where they come from, how they differ from stem cells, and what happens at each step.
What exosomes are
Every cell in the body releases tiny particles into the space around it. Exosomes are one kind. They are far smaller than a cell, and they carry molecules that other cells can pick up. Scientists study them because cells use them to communicate.
An exosome is not a cell. It has no nucleus and it does not divide, so it does not multiply the way a stem cell does. When people describe exosome therapy as "cell-free," that is what they mean: the IV contains the particles and no living cells.
Where GIOSTAR exosomes come from
The exosomes at GIOSTAR come from mesenchymal stem cells taken from donated tissue. The sourcing is ethical: the tissue is donated after healthy, full-term births, with the mother's consent. We use no embryos, and no harm comes to mother or baby. GIOSTAR screens every donor before using any tissue.
They reach you through a sterile IV. The exosomes run in with a sterile salt-water fluid, placed by your nurse practitioner.
Exosomes and stem cells
Both therapies start with mesenchymal stem cells, and they differ in what reaches you. Exosome therapy gives the particles those cells release, and no living cells. Stem cell therapy gives the cells themselves, by injection or IV. Some people choose one, some choose both, and your nurse practitioner talks through the options at your visit.
If you want the background on the cells themselves, read what stem cells are.
The two exosome therapy doses
GIOSTAR gives exosome therapy at two doses.
- Exosome Wellness. Our standard exosome dose, by IV in about an hour.
- Exosome High-Dose. A larger exosome dose, by IV in one visit of about an hour. We recommend it only when your history and goals call for it.
At your visit, your nurse practitioner recommends one and gives you the full total before you book.
How exosome therapy is given
Exosome therapy at GIOSTAR is an IV, and every visit follows the same pattern.
- Free consultation. You talk with our patient team, online, by phone or in person, free and with no obligation. We explain how exosome therapy works at GIOSTAR, ask what you would like to keep doing and book your visit with a nurse practitioner.
- Meet your nurse practitioner. An in-person visit in Henderson. Bring your medication and supplement list, any allergies and your health history. Your nurse practitioner reviews your goals, recommends a dose and gives you the full total before you book.
- Treatment day. A member of the team under your nurse practitioner checks your blood pressure and pulse and places the IV. Most people describe a needle stick and brief pressure. The exosomes run in over 30 to 60 minutes while you sit back, read or work from the recliner.
- Aftercare. You leave with clear aftercare instructions and our number for any question.
- Follow-up. We check in at 2 weeks and decide together whether to repeat. You decide with the total in front of you.
Before treatment day
Skip alcohol for 48 hours and drink plenty of water. Tell us about any blood thinners and pain relievers you take, and your nurse practitioner gives you clear instructions before your visit.
After treatment day
Skip hard workouts for 24 hours, keep drinking water and go easy on alcohol. Some people run a low-grade fever that fades within 48 hours, and your nurse practitioner reviews what to expect at your visit. Call us at 702.703.5393 with any question.
Who exosome therapy may be right for
Exosome therapy suits adults who want to stay active and work with a licensed provider. Whether it suits you is a question about your own health. Your nurse practitioner answers it at your visit, after reviewing your history, medications and allergies. If a simpler option suits you better, our team tells you at your consultation.
What decides the total
Two things decide the total: Exosome Wellness or Exosome High-Dose, and whether you repeat a dose. Your nurse practitioner gives you the full total at your free consultation, before you book. Insurance plans generally do not cover exosome therapy, so it is a self-pay service, and Cherry offers monthly payment plans for qualified applicants. You can apply before or after your consultation.
