Regenerative health: what the term covers

What people mean by regenerative health, how it relates to regenerative medicine, and which services at a Henderson wellness center fall under the term.

Search for "regenerative health" and you will find medical offices, supplement brands, podcasts and wellness centers all using the phrase. It has no single definition, so what it means depends on who is saying it.

This article sorts the term into its parts. It explains how regenerative health relates to regenerative medicine, which services people usually mean, and how to read the phrase on a provider's website.

Where the term regenerative health comes from

"Regenerative" describes a way of working with the body's own biology. Where most medicine adds something from outside, such as a drug, regenerative approaches start with cells and the signals cells send to each other.

"Health" widens the frame. A provider that says regenerative health usually means more than one therapy. It is a label for a practice, a set of services under one roof, rather than the name of a single treatment.

That is why the term shows up in so many places, and why it helps to ask what sits behind it.

Regenerative health and regenerative medicine

The two overlap, and the difference is mostly scope.

Regenerative medicine is a field. It runs from university research labs to hospitals to wellness centers, and it covers therapies such as stem cell therapy and exosome therapy. Our guide to what regenerative medicine is explains the field.

Regenerative health is a looser phrase. Some providers use it as another name for regenerative medicine. Others use it for their full menu, including services that are not regenerative medicine at all, such as lab testing or IV therapy.

Neither phrase is a regulated title. Treat both as a starting point for a conversation.

The regenerative health services people usually mean

When someone searches for regenerative health in Las Vegas or Henderson, they usually have a few services in mind.

Stem cell therapy

Stem cell therapy places stem cells into the body, by injection into a specific area or by IV. At GIOSTAR, it means ethically sourced mesenchymal stem cells from screened donors. Read what stem cell therapy is for the full walk-through.

Exosome therapy

Exosome therapy uses exosomes, the tiny particles cells release to carry signals, without any living cells. At GIOSTAR it is an IV of exosomes from screened donor stem cells, given in a recliner.

Supporting services

Many wellness centers pair regenerative therapies with services that give the whole plan context. At GIOSTAR, those are IV therapy, hormone therapy, lab testing and medical weight loss. Each has its own page and its own free consultation.

How to read the phrase regenerative health on a provider's website

When a website says regenerative health, look for four things.

  1. The list of services. Which therapies does the practice give? A page that names them is easier to evaluate than a page that stays general.
  2. Who gives them. Look for a named team and their licenses.
  3. Where materials come from. For stem cells and exosomes, this means donor screening and paperwork.
  4. How the total works. A page that explains what decides the cost, and when you hear the total, tells you how the practice works with patients.

Our guide to questions to ask before you book stem cell therapy goes through the list in detail.

What a regenerative health visit looks like at GIOSTAR

Every service at GIOSTAR starts the same way. You have a free consultation with our patient team, online, by phone or in person, with no obligation. Then you visit a nurse practitioner at our Henderson wellness center and bring your medication and supplement list, any allergies and your health history.

At that visit, your nurse practitioner reviews your goals, recommends a plan if one fits and gives you the full total before you book. If a simpler option suits you better, our team tells you. Dr. Ryan Peterson, our Medical Director, oversees care at the center.

What decides the total for regenerative medicine services

The service you choose decides the cost. Within a service, the plan does: for stem cell therapy, the number of treatment areas, injection or IV, and a single or repeat dose. For exosome therapy, Exosome Wellness or Exosome High-Dose, and whether you repeat. You hear the full total at your visit, before you book.

Insurance plans generally do not cover stem cell therapy or exosome therapy, so GIOSTAR offers them as self-pay services, with monthly payment plans through Cherry for qualified applicants.

A short regenerative medicine vocabulary

A few terms come up around this topic, and it helps to keep them straight.

  • Stem cells: the body's unspecialized cells, which can make copies of themselves and produce specialized cells.
  • Mesenchymal stem cells: the type of stem cell GIOSTAR uses, which releases signaling molecules that nearby cells respond to.
  • Exosomes: tiny particles that cells release to carry signals to other cells.
  • Regenerative medicine: the field that works with cells and the signals they send.

With those four terms, most provider websites become easier to read. If a page uses a word you do not recognize, ask the care team to explain it.
