Athletic recovery for active adults: how GIOSTAR builds a recovery plan

Athletic recovery for active adults in Las Vegas: the parts of a GIOSTAR plan, from IV infusions and a lab panel read back to a provider-led peptide program.

Athletic recovery is what you do around training so you can keep training. Everyone knows the basics: sleep, food, water, rest days. Past that, a lot of active adults in Las Vegas want a plan with a provider behind it, especially when summer heat, a busy schedule and a packed weekend all pull on the same body.

This article walks through the parts of a recovery plan that GIOSTAR offers at our Henderson wellness center, and how they fit together. It is general information, and it never replaces a doctor. If pain is new or sharp, see one first.

The everyday basics of athletic recovery

Before any service, the basics do most of the work: enough protein and fluids, sleep, planned rest days and strength work that matches your sport. In the valley, add shade, early starts in summer and electrolytes on long days. A plan from a provider sits on top of them.

What a wellness center adds is structure and measurement. That is where GIOSTAR comes in.

IV infusions in an athletic recovery plan at GIOSTAR

An IV drip puts fluids and nutrients into a vein through a small IV. A licensed professional places it, and a nurse practitioner reviews your history and helps you choose. Two items on our menu are built with active people in mind.

  • Hydration IV. Balanced fluids and electrolytes.
  • Performance & Recovery IV. Amino acids and electrolytes, built for active people.

The menu also includes the Myers Cocktail, with B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium and calcium, and the Immunity Boost IV. Our post on IV therapy for recovery describes a visit from check-in to the lounge. Athletes who are drug tested should check with their governing body before any treatment.

The lab panel in an athletic recovery plan

The Diagnostic Lab Panel is how the plan is built on your bloodwork. It reads more than 100 biomarkers across hormone, metabolic and biomarker groups, from one morning draw at a Quest location near you. Results arrive in about a week, and your nurse practitioner reviews every marker with you. Markers like these also factor into recovery support for active riders dealing with cycling knee strain.

This is a starting point for a conversation about your goals. In the Recovery Membership, biomarker testing is included. See what a full-body blood panel measures.

A peptide program as part of an athletic recovery plan

GIOSTAR's Peptide Optimization Membership is a separate, provider-led program: custom protocols chosen and dosed by a provider after bloodwork, from a licensed pharmacy, with self-injection training. Recovery and staying active are goals a plan can be built around. Learn how a peptide program works.

How the Recovery Membership brings the parts together

The Recovery Membership packages monthly IV infusion credits, a discount on additional IVs and biomarker testing. For active adults, it turns a one-off drip into a rhythm that fits the calendar. See the sports injury and recovery page for more on the membership.

How you start:

  1. Free consultation with our patient team, by phone, online or in person.
  2. A visit with a nurse practitioner to go over your health history, goals and a personalized plan.
  3. Labs if your nurse practitioner recommends them.
  4. A plan you and your provider adjust as your training changes.

How to tell if a recovery plan fits your week

A good plan matches how you actually train. A golfer who plays twice a week in July heat needs something different from a runner logging early miles, a pickleball player on three courts a week or a hiker who saves it all for the weekend. Start by writing down your usual week: sessions, travel, sleep and what usually gets squeezed.

Then ask what a plan has to cover. For some adults it is simply a monthly IV infusion on a fixed day. For others it is a lab panel read back by a provider so they know where they stand. Your nurse practitioner helps you sort which parts, if any, belong in your plan, and nothing is added unless it suits you.

Staying active in the Las Vegas valley

The valley rewards people who move: Henderson courts, Red Rock climbs, Lee Canyon in winter and trails around Lake Las Vegas. It also asks a lot in summer. Heat, dry air and long drives are part of life here, and recovery planning here means paying attention to fluids, electrolytes and sleep as much as the gear you carry. Runners logging miles on these same routes often notice soreness around the kneecap, and our guide on sore knees from running covers everyday habits worth knowing.

A recovery plan from GIOSTAR is meant to sit alongside what you already do, including time with your own doctor or physical therapist. It sits beside them.

Athletic recovery questions to ask your nurse practitioner

Bring a few questions to your first visit. Which parts of a plan make sense for my schedule? What should I bring from my own doctor or therapist? How often would you want to see my labs? Which items on the IV menu fit the weeks I train hardest? A good consultation answers each without pressure, and you can leave with a plan or with nothing at all.
